Meet the Team

John Velis

John Velis

Chief Technology Officer, Co-Founder

John joined the team in 2018 to help develop MemoryBright’s parent technology, ThinkLocker. He has more than 30 years of experience teaching secondary and college Math, Physics, and Computer Science. John founded BW Media in 1992 and continues to provide professional development workshops in Computer Science for K–12 educators. He brings a steady hand to MemoryBright’s technical direction—especially when Tom and Mark come up with “just one more idea.” In his free time, John can most often be found hiking, biking, and traveling with his wife Amy.

Tom Gordon

Tom Gordon

Chief Marketing Officer, Co-Founder

Retired faculty emeritus at Northwestern Michigan College. Tom taught Western Civilization and American History. He does his part to keep Mark employed by occasionally throwing a project his direction and hoping it turns out alright. Tom earned his BA in history and philosophy at California Polytechnic State University and his MA in history at Fort Hays State University in Kansas. He has worked at NMC since 1997. In his off time, Tom is fishing, reading, and napping.

Mark DeLonge

Mark DeLonge

Chief Operating Officer, Co-Founder

Assistant Director of Instructional Technology at Northwestern Michigan College. He works closely with faculty to develop courses and solutions to their tech needs. He is sometimes forced to work with Tom. Mark earned his BA in Education and his MA in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. He worked as an elementary school teacher for 7 years and during the summer can be found driving one of his two VWs (if they are running).

Brandon Bartlett

Brandon Bartlett

Director of Technology

Brandon volunteered to help Tom with a quick project and, before he knew it, kept getting handed jobs until he somehow ended up on the team. He earned his BA in Philosophy at California Polytechnic State University—but when the philosophy factory wasn’t hiring, he pivoted to building software instead. He brings under a decade of web development experience to Memory Bright, and occasionally reminds the team that PHP is not, in fact, a modern language. In his free time, Brandon can be found tinkering with AI, enjoying his family, or turning any friendly conversation into a Socratic dialogue.
